History

The Golden Eagle District is located in the southeastern region of San Gabriel Valley.

In 1939 the San Gabriel Valley Council was divided into districts, and the area was known as the Rancho District (named for Rancho La Puente) which changed many times over the years. Previous names were Lucky Baldwin in 1950, Lucky Trails in 1961, Los Conquistadores in 1969, High Chaparral in 1970, Conquistadores in 1971, and Mountain View in 1982. The Mountain View District, the largest in the council, was divided at the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10) in 1984, and the territory south of the freeway became known as the Golden Eagle District.

In the first half of 2004, the Golden Eagle District became one of the fastest growing districts in the nation.

In 2006, the Scouting communities of Diamond Bar, Walnut, and Pomona, from the former Old Baldy Council, were added to the Golden Eagle District.
